Description

Issue

Historical significance is essentially validated, but needs elaboration.

Desired Outcome

Mechanism

  1. Extract significance vectors:

A. Creativity as a topic: significance within human corpus
B. Breadth of 4LM's application -> Keep adding more domains
C. Consistency of applicability
D. Insights that align with conventional rule of thumb, sayings or domain knowledge. -> Compile separately as list.
E. Novelty and lack of competing theories -> #3
F. Timespan of human history lacking a unifying model: 40k-50k years since cave paintings
G. AI clarity gain estimates

A, B, F = Scope/Scale
B, C, D, G = robustness
E, F = Novelty

  1. Flowchart:

If 4LM is correct -> Historically significant because A E F
If 4LM is later proven incorrect:

  • Challenge to E: Replaced by a different theory: 4LM served as a catalyst to birth the replacement, akin to Geocentricism, Alchemy, Phlogiston theory, Thus it is historically significant, due to A F.
  • Challenge to B/C: Proven limited in scope (eg not universal), edge cases or domains not fitting model: Proves 4LM's efficacy as a lens to dissect creativity. B guarantees it is valid a least for a segment of creativity, and the distinction between 4LM vs non-4LM creative domains will lead to new school of study. Thus historically significant due to A. F, akin to Newtonian physics (mostly right on Earth) leading to Quantum physics (outer reaches where no longer applicable)
  • Outright dismissal as invalid e.g. Regression to pre-4LM domain-specific knowledge: B, C, D, G (robustness) ensure any such dismissal would take significant intellectual rigor, which would likely end up advancing human knowledge. 4LM would have served a function in proposing a fallacy that invites critique. Likely historically significant, though less compared to other scenarios.
