[BUG] Plugin fails to install on newly installed Homebridge - Rasberry Pi - DietPi #28
Comments
What versions of npm and nodejs do you have installed? |
Node.js Version v18.18.2 <https://homebridge.io/w/JTKEF> npm is located in
/opt/homebridge/bin and when I run it to try to get a version it just
states "/usr/bin/env: ‘node’: No such file or directory" so I'm not sure
what version it is but the version of homebridge was initially v1.1.0 and
then was upgraded to 1.7.0 inside homebridge's ui. The same issue occurred
on raspian when I checked so doesn't seem to be distro specific. In that
case I was trying to reinstall the switchmate plugin after uninstalling.
That's why I switched to dietpi and tried again.

I just got the 1.7 homebridge update prompt, it appears that it requires node.js 18.15 or higher. However, I don’t think this has been upgraded to support any node.js higher than 14 (not supported anymore) In fact the last commit was in 2021. Switchmate has kind of gone away too, it’s not as prevalent as it used to be. As for node.js, I’ve noticed that when upgrading the system, it messes with homebridge, so I now let it install only having an association with my homebridge. any other ideas? |
I have no idea,....the light switches worked decently for me and I liked not having to replace the physical switch but I guess if I can't reinstall the plugin then I'll have to retire them. i do know the most recent (10/27) update to the homebridge UI causes the system to not come back up so I did a reinstall and skipped that update. |
What is the bug?
How can one reproduce the bug?
Install Switchmate Plugin on Homebridge/Raspberry Pi/DietPi
