Is it possible to setup MIDI "thru" with the Waveshare 1.69 touch?

Just as the subject suggests, is it possible to setup MIDI through for the 1.69 Waveshare Touch? I would like to have two TRS ports soldered to the board.

MIDI thru is already enabled by default when CONFIG_TONEX_CONTROLLER_ENABLE_MIDI_THRU=y (see /source/main/Kconfig.projbuild). The code in /source/main/midi_serial.c:130-136 routes RX (GPIO 18) to TX (GPIO 17). You need: 1) Adafruit MIDI FeatherWing kit, 2) wire per HardwarePlatform_Waveshare_1.69.md, 3) enable wired MIDI in web config.

Thanks. Yes in later builds all platforms excpet the 4.3B has midi thru enabled already, coming out of the midi transmit pin

do I really need the adafruit breakout board? According to this thread it seems like we can wire it directly to the waveshare?

I would recommend using the Adafruit board if you want maximum reliability and compatibility, particularly for live performances.

As you have seen, some users have chosen to do other ways, which may work or may introduce problems. I can't really provide support for these methods, but of course it's completely up to you how to want to do things.

Gotcha! I have the Adafruit board. I was using it in another build but wanted to use it in in this case (it wont fit, maybe I have to modify the model)
