Waveshare Zero - WiFi connection issues.

May not be an issue or may be something I've missed, but would appreciate a bit of input.
I've setup the Waveshare Zero (WZ) with the newest Beta (incl. the tonex.local connectivity via the beamed WiFi).
I can connect to the WiFi in the first instance when the WZ is turned on, but sometimes the connection will drop if I, seemingly, attempt to connect to a web page whilst connected to the WZ WiFi before trying to access the tonex.local page.
If the connection drops, I can no longer see the TonexConfig WiFi in my phone's list, even though I've changed the option to Access Point, rather than Access Point Timed on the tonex.local page (and saved, etc).
To reinstate the WiFi connection, I need to turn the unit off and back on, with tonex.local open in my phone's browser, hope that the access point comes up then connect and hope it stays connected. It's listed as an 'auto join' WiFi, too, in my phone's settings.

Any thoughts as to how I can improve this? I managed to use this set up for a gig on Saturday - it worked fine for all of the second half with parameter changes etc, but the first half dropped out and I couldn't get it to reconnect, per the above.

Hi. I can think of a few things here.

1. Another user reported that the WiFi on their board was not stable with the default WiFi transmit power setting. The next release will have an adjustment for this. Its hard to know if this is the cause of your issue though.
2. How have you mounted the Zero? Metal boxes will block attenuate the radio signals. Also make sure to keep the antenna away from any wires or other metal objects
3. 2.4 GHz is a crowded radio band in many areas. In a gig environment you could have people running WiFi hot spots and similar 2.4 GHz radio interference. This is also a hard one to prove/disprove

The fact that it needs a reboot to fix suggests that its less likely to be 2 and 3.
I'll get a release out with the power adjustment when I can. I will also run some stability tests on access point mode.

Brill, thanks for this Greg.
I'm guessing it's point 1. The Zero is currently 'free', insofar as it's not in an enclosure, so going against 2 somewhat.
3. is a potential avenue to explore - there's only my wifi and sometimes, intermittently, my immediate neighbours' wifi that shows up in any wifi lists, yet I'm getting the same issues at home.

There's no rush on my part for getting this resolved, so if there are other aspects that you're focusing on, this can wait.
