I see too much English content written by non-native-english speakers on Elgg.org. I think this is bad for a few reasons:

  1. It's hard to understand.
  2. Because of 1) they don't get help
  3. Lack of content in other languages means we're failing to get search hits for queries in those languages. Folks are looking for help but aren't finding it because more content is in English than it should be.
  4. These people waste time apologizing for their bad English instead of explaining their problem better.

Perhaps we need a language flag in the "new discussion" form that prompts people to select the language that they are posting in and encourages them to use their native language.
