It would be quite useful to be able to identify ones rivals by both real id and country assignment simultaneously throughout the app. On the chat panel specifically I see the country but have to go back to check who the player is.

Problem with the chat UI is the cramped space. Where should I put the name of the player? If you are very interested you can always (as you note) go back.

You can now click the player icon and get the regular player info pop up.
