FR: Adjustable scan time, ignore errors #6
Comments
Hi there, Are you referring to the indexing of the Programs (not Explorer) plugin? Programs plugin scanning/indexing shouldn't show any errors, if any are shown should be an actual error from a plugin, which it would be good for us to know and fix. |
Yes I mean the Programs plugin. Here is one of the type of thee windows it shows to the user. I get bunch of those when it scans in the background. It is good that it is reporting but in my use case it is just annoying, just ignore it and move on would be a better approach in my view. I assume this is coming from the Programs plugin because it complaints about missing installers or shortcuts generally. |
Btw I am 100% sure that these window popups come from FlowLauncher Program plugin because I start getting this right away when I start indexing. I think the best would be that the plugin just ignores broken shortcuts, links apps etc instead of showing a popup to the user, since it is pointless to bug the user with tons of popups in my view. |
I guess at this point it would be great to have an option to just ignore errors. Like I mentioned it doesn't help to show 50 error popups everytime the scanner works in the background. |
OK I think was wrong about the FlowLauncher Program plugin. These popups are coming from the Explorer plugin. I disabled the Program and the WinSettings plugins and I still get these. I would appreciate some advice on this because I am literally clicking 500 times a day to get rid of all these popups, makes it unberable to use this :( What is interesting is that whatever scanning done that throws these errors are also triggered by installing an app. Somehow a new app installation triggers these issues. |
Hey apologies for the late reply. Explorer plugin utilises the Windows Index or Everything service and does not do any indexing of files itself. It's a first that I have seen this behaviour, do you still get these when you disable Explorer plugin? What version of flow you are using? You mentioned you are getting these when you start indexing, how are you start indexing? Is this Programs plugin indexing you are referring to still? |
Hi
It would be great if the plugin lets the user to disable scanning and let the user to adjust the scan times. For instance I don't want it to scan folders regularly, It causes way too much IO unnecessarily.
Also, it would be helpful if it ignores scan errors and don't show pop ups to inform the user. If there are a lot of errors., missing shortcuts etc the suer is bombarded with popups regularly since the scanning is done regularly during the day.
Thanks
