Negative rates of chemical destruction of carbon species

I am wondering if it is appropriate to use negatie rates for the chemical destruction of carbon species as suggested in the RC file here. It seems no chemical loss will occur if a negative value is used in the carbonChemLoss function. Are they supposed to be 1, instead of -1?

See the description at #266 for more information but the value in the RC file indicates whether the optional carbon loss feature is enabled. A value of -1 indicates the carbonChemLoss function is not used.
