You use the word derivation without actually saying what one is.

@idontgetoutmuch the term derivation is coming straight from nix. Here is an interesting link:

I believe it is quite ok for this project to assume the reader has some prior notion of nix ;-)

@PierreR then it should say so but I disagree as I think with a little bit of effort this could go from being a good tutorial to being a great tutorial

@idontgetoutmuch Sure, I would propose what you have in mind with a Pull Request. Such guide can improve a lot with the contributions of different authors with different levels of expertise.
