Putty in Telnet mode vs telnet via WIN10 command window for HASP debugging

I've used telnet debugging mode in the past, using the telnet command in an WIN10 command window without issues.
I tried to use PuTTY in telnet mode (port 23), but it times out. Anyone tried PuTTY and gotten it to work? If so, can you share your setttings? PuTTY would be a little easier to use if it worked :)
