If there is only a root user existing on the system (and no normal user account) the greeter crashes with the following error:
Shouldn't be relevant here, but as motivation for the missing normal user account:
I'm setting up a remote booted (via PXE) Ubuntu LTSP image using a chroot deployment which is mounted through NFS during startup. Having this kind of setup means, that one does not follow the usual installation routines and by that has no standard user account existing from the beginning.
Steps to reproduce
The error should occure if you have a standard installation and just remove the non-root user so only root is left as possible login account.
Expected behavior
offering a empty login dialog for filling username and password.
