Gradle did not select the default system version. It automatically downloaded version 9.3 but was unable to open the project.

I solved this problem by myself. The solution provided by the AI was to set up a wrapper.
cd /d D:\1\android

T:\t\gradle\bin\gradle.bat wrapper --gradle-version 9.6.1
This will automatically create the complete gradle/wrapper/ directory (including gradle-wrapper.jar, gradle-wrapper.properties and the gradlew/gradlew.bat scripts).
Summary: The project itself is not problematic. The issue lies in the absence of the gradle-wrapper.properties file, which causes the IDE/LSP server to not know which Gradle version to use and automatically downloads an incompatible old version (9.3.0). Creating the wrapper will solve the problem.

Then another problem arose.

There are no compatible JDKs found on the machine. Unable to run Gradle.

My local JAVA_HOME setting is set to T:/t/java/ and the version is 26.0.1.

I fixed it by ai's suggestion:

There is a serious misguidance here: The comment states "A Java distribution defined by the JAVA_HOME environment variable", but SystemProperties.getJavaHome() reads the java.home system property, which is the path of the current process's JVM - that is, the JBR 25 included with the LSP server:

It doesn't read the JAVA_HOME environment variable at all! Your JAVA_HOME = T:/t/java/ is completely ignored here. 
4. Issues with the compatibility matrix (compatibilityData.kt)

In line with the semantics of parseRange and Range.valueOf: 
parseVersion("25") → leftBound  = Bound.Impl(25, inclusive=true)
parseVersion("26") → rightBound = Bound.Impl(26, inclusive=false)
So the range of Java is [25, 26) - left closed and right open. Java 26 is excluded. 
Even if your Java 26.0.1 is found, it will be judged as incompatible by isSupported():

5. Summary: Three levels of issues

In contrast, JBR 25: It is within the compatibility range ([25, 26) includes 25). If tryJavaFromJavaHome can correctly parse the version number of JBR, theoretically it should return JBR 25 as the compatible JDK. If even this fails, it might be that SimpleJavaSdkType.getVersionString() has a problem parsing the release file of JBR (the version format of JBR may be different from the standard JDK). 
Solution
The most straightforward bypass method: Set the system property com.jetbrains.ls.imports.gradle.java.home. This has the highest priority and will bypass all detection logic. In the settings.json of VS Code:

Or install a JDK 21 (within the compatibility matrix [21, 22], which covers Gradle 8.5+), and ensure that it is installed in a standard location that can be scanned by JavaHomeFinder.

I added "intellij.additionalJvmArgs": "-Dcom.jetbrains.ls.imports.gradle.java.home=T:/t/java/" to vscode settings and the lsp works.

I hope this project can be used right out of the box, or provide more user-friendly instructions.
