@tofay -- thanks for merging this!

Do you expect future releases from this project, or is it more in a maintenance mode? I understand either way, but it would be great to get some insights as to the direction you foresee. (Concretely, I'm keen to know if you and the other maintainers have a plan/desire/appetite/openness to port some of this work forward to dnf5's C++-based plugin model.)

This is in maintenance mode. I'm not sure right now if me and the other maintainers will need a dnf5 plugin or not (depends if the distros we use upgrade to dnf5 whilst we still use RPM repos in azure), but either way I think that'd look sufficiently different that it would be a new project.

@dsteeley - did you write a dnf5 plugin at one point?
