or joust (example game), the default atari 5200 controller mode, during first start, is mouse, instead of keyboard.
even if you specify the keyboard controls, and/or remove mouse. keyboard starts working only after rebooting.

edit: mouse cant be connected at all to the mister, if you want keyboard control, for atari5200.

when mouse is connected, it prevents keyboard and/or joystick from working.
in joust on atari 5200, it prevents fire button/s from working, the player moves but does not fly.
this happens in atari5200 and some arcade cores. maybe a core issue, maybe a mister issue.

edit: more specifically, mouse becomes the primary control device, instead of keyboard (or joystick).

Probably your mouse generates movement events even if it's not moved. Try another mouse.

having a mouse disables fire button. I will not switch my primary mouse. no way. removing the mouse works.

just mentioning this behaviour.
