I have read the FAQ and it doesn't cover the issue.
I have searched the issue tracker for open and closed issues that are similar to the feature request I want to file, without success.
I'm on the latest version.
I'm not using a test build (alpha/beta/release-candidate).
This issue contains only one bug.
Describe the bug
Install Neo Backup
Tap 'Backup Folder'
Default Documents app only shows 'Recent' with NO FILES SHOWN; no ability to choose external/internal storage from three-dot menu.
I have seen some examples of code alterations that are necessary to fix this issue, but nothing about why it actually happens.
At this point, the only available updates are for Android 14 (LineageOS 21). No option to update to a later version of Android 13 (blame the LineageOS folks, not me!)
Fresh install of Neo Backup, first presented with the "No SAF Manager" problem, re-installed DocumentsUI, and then this. The Documents (or 'Files' app) only shows a screen with 'Recent' at the top, NO WAY to choose another folder or storage device in menus, and a blank list of files/folders to choose from. No manipulation of the DocumentsUI fixes this.
Short of updating to Android 14 (which requires factory reset and reflash) I have no idea how to address this problem.
Checked for settings/config files and found nothing there that would change the backup path. If there WERE some way to specify the backup folder to use, I have Root File Explorer installed, and so I could edit a configuration file to reflect that and thus have a workaround. Sadly, there is NO information anywhere available for this problem.
Please help.
Thank you.
Expected Behavior
Install Neo Backup.
Tap 'Backup Folder'.
BE ABLE TO SPECIFY A BACKUP FOLDER FROM DocumentsUI.

Relevant information
Device: Motorola Edge (2020) (racer)
Android Version: 13
ROM: LineageOS 20--20240321-NIGHTLY-racer (update for March 21, 2024)
As a system app and with same system signature or as a normal user app?
As a system app from the original package that still existed in LineageOS. I presume the signature would not have changed simply because the app was uninstalled. I should also note the behavior shown was one of the reasons I removed DocumentsUI in the first place. Not that I've found it anywhere outside of this one particular interaction with Neo Backup, though--no other apps on my device need to use SAF to specify where to save files. Those that DO need a specified path usually just let the user type in the path manually, which is a much simpler and more direct method than calling up SAF to do the same thing.
