Confusion with documentation of the ebill_postfinance module

Hi

I'm interested to use the ebill_postfinance module with my Enterprise Odoo 18 but I'm confused by the documentation. It states I need an identifier for each customer I want to be able to send eBill to ? Ebill is supposed to be linked by an email or while flashing qrcode of a QR invoice.
Is it just the documentation that is not up to date ?

Hi Vincèn,
We are starting to use the module as well.
To send an eBill, you need the customer to accept to receive bills from you.

From what I understood of the process there are 3 ways to do that:

1. the customer from his ebanking add your company as "allowed to receive invoice from" - then from the ebill portal you receive the customer (csv list) that subscribed with the necessary identifiers
2. you can look up from the ebill portal (or the python api) user that are open to any bill issuer and add them manually
3. there is a process you can trigger and the customer receive an email with a code and with this code you can subscribe it.

It seems none of these processes are integrated in odoo. There is a webservice python module that comes with the odoo module which can enable all of them. But not yet integrated.

We might in a near future (2-3 months) enable some of these processes from within odoo. If we do, we should contribute to the OCA modules.

Indeed the creation of eBill Payment Contract in Odoo is a manual operation.

The reason behind this is the ebill_postfinance module was originally implemented for exchange between businesses (b2b). In this case they manually exchange their IDs test the exchange of invoices and the integration with their respective ERPs before using it in production.

This manual process is not ideal for a large pool of customer and when the customer decides when he wants to use ebilling or not.

It would be a great addition to have the subscription process and its events integrated in the OCA.

Yep this is the full manual option but not the easiest to use both for customer and company.

Hum not sure it's a good idea that process and also quite complicated.

Well it's the way most of businesses works and as I work right now with Abacus (my existing accounting solution). I send an invoice at a swiss customer with QR Code to pay (the QR Code uses my QR IBAN). When he pays it in his ebanking, the bank automatically recognises the account as existing in eBill and offer customer to add my company in his eBill). Once customer accepts, it sends back a confirmation that allows the accounting software to add in customer profile for invoicing his eBill number.
It implies 3 parts in Odoo: generate invoices using QR IBAN and not IBAN, be able to receive and handle the bank notification to put the eBill ID of customer in its contact details, when a customer has an eBill ID send the invoice through EBICS or File exchange to the bank for processing.

Well the QR invoice looks to be done already, and ebics communication I found some too but the management of the eBill subscription is to be done. I was hoping this module would go around that but unhappy not.

Thanks for the explanation and makes sense now why the module works that way. It would be great to update it to implement the new options and get something lot more smooth and easy to use both for customers and users of Odoo.

Yeah it's the main "issue" now but should not be very difficult as banks send back subscriptions confirmations at eBill by email in xml format so "just" need a filter in Odoo to be able to handle it automatically.

Yeah but unhappy I'm not really a programmer in Python and my knowledges of Odoo are more on user side than anything else :-D
