I had to also install curl before the bash onion_buildenv setup_imagebuilder command worked with apt install curl

and to build on apple silicon with docker I used.
docker pull --platform linux/amd64 ubuntu:22.04
docker run --platform linux/amd64 -it ubuntu:22.04

@luisschubert Thanks for the feedback! We'll add in the requirement for curl asap.
EDIT Nov 20, 2024: updated the article so it uses the onion/openwrt-builder Docker image that has all of the software dependencies, including curl, already installed.

Did you have to enable rosetta along with the platform flags in the docker container for the container to work properly?

Also need the ability to remove packages that are installed by the Onion build.
For example, DNSMasq is in my list of "bloatware" that IMHO should not be part of a Base Firmware build and can always be added by users if required.
Currently the script doesn't appear to have a method of removing packages from the the base build, only adding packages

@crispyoz yes, that is definitely useful! Added a section to the article on removing packages, take a look and let me know if it needs any edits!
I'm not sure how DNSMasq gets included in the firmware - maybe we'll take it out sometime in the future.

I submitted a pull request OnionIoT/openwrt-imagebuilder-wrapper#27 to add an option to the profile to change the nomeclateur of the output file. The addition of the date in the name of the output file is very useful, however for me it broke my scripts that depend on consistent file name. During development I commonly scp the firmware to my test device, so arrow up in the terminal to repeat the last command is typically how I would operate, after midnight I was transferring the file I had created just prior to midnight. Dumb mistake but my pull request doesn't change the default behaviour, just adds the option to not include the date in the filename.
