I was trying the new HDR feature of premium plan of SkyShowtime, and it seems the addon has troubles with it.

I tried on a Fire TV 4K Max. Skyshowtime app plays fine. 4K content plays fine on the addon with Kodi. But HDR content is glitchy / pixelated. If I disable HDR10 on addon settings then it plays fine. I don't know if the same applies to Dolby Vision because my TV doesn't have that technology.

I tried with Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season 1. Season 2 is 4K but no HDR so that one plays fine.

I can provide more tests or logs if you want.

Thanks in advance!

I don't have a 4K TV so it's good to know that 4K works.
About your problem with HDR10, once playback starts it's up to inputstream.adaptive and the kodi player, so I think I can do little about it.

Sure, but keep in mind that I also use Netflix, Disney, HBO and other platforms addons and HDR playback has no issues. They all use inputstream.adaptive and Kodi is the same, so actually it could be something related to how Skyshowtime send the data or how you addon handles it.

Do HDR10 videos play correctly with the official SkyShowtime app for Android?

Yes.

If you don't have a HDR capable TV or device I guess you can't really try. Maybe your phone is HDR capable?

I'm not even subscribed to the 4K plan so it's very unlikely I could fix it.
Are there 4K streams available in the web browser?
Otherwise it would be necessary to figure out the options that the android device uses for HDR10 playback, which can be difficult.

I don't think 4K is available on web browsers, but even if it were, I guess the issue should be looked at on Kodi/Android, and see how it interacts with inputstream.adaptive, if that makes sense.

Sorry you don't have a 4K subscription. I would say try to get a free trial, but I guess it won't be worth it.

Maybe some other users can tell us if they have troubles or not.

I also have exactly the same problem. I'm disabled HDR and Dolby Vision on this add-on because of the pixelation and bad picture. 4K HDR and Dolby vision play fine on the same device on peacock.

Does it make any difference if you turn on the option "enable hdcp" in the addon settings?

I just tried it and unfortunately no, enable hdcp doesn't make any difference. Would you like my peacock login details to test it?

I'm wondering if it's caused by the bitrate per second of these streams. Compared to the HDR and Dolby Vision stream of Matt Huismanns Disney and paramount add-ons, stream rate of this peacock add-on is about half. The Disney and paramount add-ons are running at about 30 Mbps, the peacock HDR and Dolby Vision runs at about 15. I was under the impression that HDR streams need at least 25 mbps

I updated my Kodi from 20 to 21 and the error persists. It's strange, it also happens on Max (former HBO) addon by slyguy, but not on Disney+ addon (also by slyguy) or PrimeVideo addons. Movistar addon (which is yours I think @Paco8) also works fine. So I guess it may be something about the data received from the provider. I will post at slyguy's repo and link this issue, hope that's OK.
