Add support for updating VSCode via Install-VSCode PS Script

It would be really great if the Install-VSCode script could also be used to update the existing version of the VSCode with the latest one. Use case:
A user working in VSCode with an account that doesn't have administrative privileges (and with UAC configured to block elevation prompts). Install-VSCode script could be configured as a scheduled task (or as an SCCM published package) to keep VSCode updated with no need for manual downloads

...or it could be a separate script, say Update-VSCode. Also, it would be nice if the script would check whether an updated version is available before going and downloading the binary.

Chocolatey does good with this.
I have an admin script on login that runs:
choco outdated
Then if an update is listed it can install the update.
$OutdatedString = choco outdated | ConvertFrom-Csv -Delimiter '|' -Header ('package name','current version','available version','pinned') | ? { $_.'current version' -match '[.]' }
if ($OutdatedString) {
$OutdatedString | FT
choco upgrade ALL --yes
}

My version displays and I manually update, but something like this should be a good starting point.

Not sure that there will be a reliable way to check if VS Code has been updated outside of VS Code's own update mechanism. You might have a better experience if you do like @jmiller76 suggests and use something like Chocolatey to manage installation and updating of VS Code.

However, if someone can figure out a reliable way to check for an updated VS Code through a REST request or something I'd be happy to add it to the script.
