2. Execute ./AmbermoomPatcher

You should not call the patcher directly. It is called from the main executable when it detects a new patch. The patcher needs specific arguments.

What are you trying to do?

If you want to start the game, execute the Ambermoon.net executable instead.

I also tried to use the Ambermoon.net directly. Loads a black window, then closes after about 20-30 seconds. Not output on the command line. I launch everything from CLI. Is there an argument I can put to output a log?

In general there should be log output automatically if there is an error. Either directly in the cli or inside a log.txt file.

This is all there is. I run Ambermoon, after hitting it with a chmod +x, and a screen loads with a black screen, and then it closes.

Hm at least it created the config file ambermoon.cfg so it is not about write access I guess. But only to make sure can you please check if the following directory exists?

~/.config/Ambermoon

If so, is there anything in it like a log file?

No logging at all is really strange.

Another thing you could try. Please download the following file and put it next to the executable.

Then try to run again.

If all this is not helping, I could create a test executable with much more log outputs so we can find the issue.

Versions.dat fixed it. I was even able to start a new game with no issues. Runs smooth as well. Thanks for all your help.

I am glad it works now. I will keep this issue open to find the cause though. Normally the versions.dat file is embedded into the executable but in a custom way. Something is not working there so I will check this.

Maybe if you have time, I would really appreciate if you could test if version 1.10.9 works out of the box on Debian 12. Just download into a new folder and start. Thanks
