for melee weapons that aren't stabbing you,
introduce a new knocked out state that's basically a 'wait x seconds till you get up again',
for gun injuries (i guess only headshots but maybe for heavy weaponry it would also be worth it),
go straight to being dead (still have the counter for respawning tho)
Also, maybe using ragdoll instead of an animation for the dead state would be good, might just be personnal preference (maybe a config option for it then?)

The problem
You always go in laststand no matter the injury
Ideal solution
Keep last stand for most injuries,
for melee weapons that aren't stabbing you,
introduce a new knocked out state that's basically a 'wait x seconds till you get up again',
for gun injuries (i guess only headshots but maybe for heavy weaponry it would also be worth it),
go straight to being dead (still have the counter for respawning tho)
