Add a random button

For us who have thousands upon thousands of roms across all the consoles Lemuroid can emulate, a random button would be nice.

Press it and a random game boots up. Just an idea as 99% of the games on storage is ignored most of the times.

The feature of selecting a random game can be interesting, but I don't see much value in having a collection where most of the games are never played. The purpose of collecting games should be to play them, not just to accumulate them.

I confess that I fall into this trap myself and rarely end up playing.

Implementing this feature could represent an additional effort for the developer and, at the same time, encourage a senseless desire to collect games without real purpose.

And what is the issue with this?

'Senseless' collection of retrogames is a way of perserving these gems, prevent of them getting lost and/or deleted from the net.

With all the big corpo wars on emulation we are obligated to collect and perserve cultural history. If corpo gets their way, most will be lost to history, and i, for one, refuses to let that happen if it is in my power which it is.

I understand, that's not what I meant.
I agree with and support preservation.

What I wanted to highlight is the functional aspect:
You can preserve thousands of games from a specific console on an external hard drive (or something like that), without necessarily mixing it with your personal collection.

In other words, separating the console's library, which should be preserved, from your collection, which is more personal and specific.

I'm not denying the importance of preserving cultural history, but I try to make this distinction to avoid confusing the two concepts.

I'm not using the argument that "you won’t play the entire library," because, there are people who have completed or are close to completing the entire Master System library, which is impressive!

Well that is fair enough, but wouldnt you, if you had a large library like i do for example, like a chance to play hidden gems by a press of a button that which you would otherwise not experience?

Im not demanding the dev to make it happen, but i think its a fair suggestion.
Besides personalized favorites is already if selected in the favorites tab.

Perhaps you do got a library like mine, but suggesting storing all your non favorites on a storage device not to be played because of..?! Is not a good argument for this suggestion.

I have the library i have because it gives me great joy to have all of these retro gems locally so i can play whatever i want, whenever i want.

Well, I'll explore little by little if I'm interested, a gem isn't found on the surface.

It's not about keeping it untouched, you can grab any game from the preserved library to try out.

I think this discussion is already getting complex. I believe there is already enough repertoire for the developer to decide, haha.

You make good points, this almost sounds like a Reddit discussion.
