I would not. There should not be two ways of doing the same thing.
Let's figure out what the issue with spotless is, and fix that.

I do not mind if spotless is used instead, as long as it works for both formatting and sorting imports.

It is not configured in the Solver Service model parent, so it is not run when building a model.
