Currently the "QC Obs" file cannot be used to calculate estimate. In fact, the "QC Obs" file are little more than raw data. A large amount of GIS and other quality control work goes on inside AKaerial before a simple design based estimate is calculated. But this work is not saved or written to a file for use outside AKaerial, and must be re-done each time an estimate is calculated, which take a lot of time.
I am proposing that there is one tidy file that contains all information needed to apply a design-based estimate. Such a file would have one row for each observation and at least the columns for design transect ID, transect length, species, observation type, observation number, location, date-time, design strata ID (not any post-stratification!), and etc...
Any GIS QC work done on transects or strata geographic data, should also be written out and saved.
In the end, a user should be able to easily make design-based estimates without the use of AKaerial.
