HDR works as expected in DX12 titles, but any Vulkan game does not see the virtual display as HDR capable. If you run VulkanCapsViewer with ONLY the virtual display active, you can see that it is missing surface formats that support the HDR color space. It does not report the HDR10_ST2084_EXT color space. This can be seen under the Surface submenu of the program. I would expect this is the flag games are looking for.
Not sure if this can be fixed via some advanced tweaking as a user or if it has to be implemented on VDD's side.
When opening VulkanCapsViewer with my main display on, this is in the list:
It is simply not there if I start the program without my main monitor active.

Red Dead Redemption 2, on vulkan mode, also does not properly see the virtual display as a valid monitor to display the game on. The "output Monitor" option only has 1 option, the real display. The only way to launch the game on the virtual display is the force turn off the real monitor, even then, if you ever turn it back on the game will snap back to the real monitor.
Which OS?
Win11 Home
Which release?
24H2
