Federation

Platforms such as Mastodon, Peertube, Lemmy have something called federation. It allows a user from one instance to interact with another instance. Platforms like Forgejo are also working on implementing federation feature.

This will be useful for Weblate to allow someone with an account on one Weblate instance to also make translations for a project on another instance without having to sign up for another Weblate account on that instance.

With this feature, the admin of the Weblate instance will need to have federation settings such as...

• Enable/Disable federation
• Federation Instance Whitelist or Blacklists

These settings will allow the instance to choose weather to allow federation or be isolated and to choose weather to federate with selected instances or federate with any instance except the instances in the blacklist or federate with any/all instances.
