Configurable "splitters" instead of fixed _

How complex would it be to support other indicators for nested structs like e.g. __ or something configurable? From quickly looking over the code it seems like changing the Node structure and a few functions could be it? Would it be something that fits the goal of the project?

We have a system to target that exports with __ because it keeps the single _ for snake_cased field names.
