As discussed in robotology/robotology-superbuild#95 (comment), this is a useful feature as adding the plugin directories to PATH , DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH or LD_LIBRARY_PATH can have some drawbacks.

An implementation of this was added in robotology/blockfactory#32 , but it needs to be propagated to the main sharedlibpp repo. @triccyx may be interested in using this as well.
