As the title suggests, when a formal alliance is made, the API data then refuses to merge.

Formal alliance allows you to see your ally's ship destinations, the API allows you to see your ally's ship path if it's routed to multiple destinations. It's actually more useful right now to not have a formal alliance and just use the API.

The API merge works outside of formal alliance.

I don't see any errors that seem to specifically be related to this issue.
