Single Item Types should reference Physical States

@bjkeller it's unclear to me what is the difference between physical states and physical state types. Further, there is a natural hierarchy of physical states, for example:
miniprep -> purified aqueous DNA -> aqueous solution -> solution

What do you think of making physical state reference itself?
