Digi IX15: Error when i run python setup.py install

I am working on a Digi IX15 device. When i ran setup.py I got this error:

python setup.py install

/usr/lib/python3.10/site-packages/

Perhaps your account does not have write access to this directory? If the
installation directory is a system-owned directory, you may need to sign in
as the administrator or "root" account. If you do not have administrative
access to this machine, you may wish to choose a different installation
directory, preferably one that is listed in your PYTHONPATH environment
variable.

Are you trying to install the sdk in a folder where you don't have permissions?

also what OS are you using on Digi IX15?

regarding the folder specified in the error message, no I do not think I have permission to write to that folder. However, when I installed the older SDK I did not get this error.

What I did:
I tried to connect to AWS and followed their instructions on the website.

• I installed a connection kit that includes a shell script.
• when I ran the shell script I got an error: git not found
  so I fetched the shell script and found it clones the repository.
• so I did it manually as follows:
• downloaded it to my local computer, then uploaded it to DIGI IX15
• I uploaded it to a folder that I can read from and write to.
• then I navigated to the setup.py through the cmd and ran it

The OS is Linux (DAL OS)

According to this documentation:

The writable directories within the filesystem are:

• /tmp
• /opt
• /etc/config

So I would recommend trying to install it to one of those directories with

python3 -m pip install --target=/opt awsiotsdk

You can also try using digi containers to cross compile this sdk so you can avoid any space limitations of your digi ix15 device.
