No wifi on V.2 (Sept '19) Buster build

Download and etched the latest version I could find on the Tilt website, and after getting into the GUI there's no wifi settings to be found anywhere. Any ideas?

This version was intended as a smaller download (Raspbian seems to be getting bigger and bigger) but doesn't have a WiFi settings panel. It must be accessed on the command line by using the terminal app and typing "sudo raspi-config". I'm planning to take this one down until I can find a way to install a WiFi GUI on it.

Bummer. I have a 64gb card so no real issues, but understand it probably isn't worth the effort.

Another FYI, when I update my Pi after Buster, it bricks my 3b. Won't even get bring up a splash screen, just dead after restart. That is with apt-get update then apt full-upgrade. Supposed to update the kernel, so that's probably what's doing it, not sure. Something not playing pretty with my Pi.

Ok, good to know. I’ll try rebuilding the Tilt Pi disk image with the latest Raspbian. Will let you know how that goes.

Thanks. Any way in this build you could enable more default applications? In the v2 Buster for example, the text editor is missing, and a bunch of ‘stock’ apps from the basic build. Really a pain adding those things back in.

I started with the latest published image raspbian-buster-full 2.13.2020. This was the build they posted with all of the recommended software. I went through the manual install of node-red and the new bt beacon per your instructions on the tilt website, and all seems to be working well at the moment. Version 2.5 of FLOW, and logging has started. Will see if it skips any beats here over the next 24 hrs. Probably brewing tomorrow and i'll get a real world test then too. The latest Buster is pretty slick, lots of the tweaking built in, text editor built in, etc.

That’s great news that it’s working so far. Will get an image up on our website soon. Let me know if you run into any issues. Did you run the Bluetooth stability fix? Not sure if it’s still a problem on the latest os version.

I forgot to try it before hitting the ‘fix’ button in the tilt gui. I’m thinking it might be fixed in the newest build though. Everything seems to be running better. And I can do a full-upgrade and not brick my Pi. Lots more features, but the downside is it’s a 7gb+ image. I have a 64gb card so it’s no prob but for some that might be an issue.

That’s great to hear. Thanks for testing this. Will get a new disk image up this weekend on our website. Sounds like it will still fit on an 8gb card.

I’ve gotten Chromium to open on startup, but think I need to get a delay in as it gives a network error saying the connection has been reset or some similar error. I think it needs to get WiFi established first, and then load Chrome. Will search for a delay command, or how did you do it?

Instead of having chrome open the local web server on start up, I have it open a local html document that has a 10 second delay before opening the web server. This can be done using the tips on the following stack exchange: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/3292038/redirect-website-after-certain-amount-of-time

Ok, been running on my current fermenting batch for 3 days now without missing one data point. As stable as its ever been. Latest Buster build might have resolved some issues with BT and wifi. Hope to see that build soon as the default on the Tilt website!
