Ceph and Ceph-CSI versions for Kubernetes v1.33 with external Ceph cluster

Hello Ceph team,

I’m planning to integrate an external Ceph cluster with my Kubernetes v1.33 setup using the Ceph CSI driver.

My goal is to use Ceph (running on separate servers) as the backend storage for Kubernetes workloads — not deploying Ceph inside Kubernetes.

Could you please advise:

1. Which Ceph-CSI version is fully compatible with Kubernetes v1.33?
2. Which Ceph cluster version is recommended for this setup (e.g. Reef, Quincy, etc.)?
3. Is there any preferred or documented method for connecting an external Ceph cluster to Kubernetes (using CephFS or RBD)?

https://github.com/ceph/ceph-csi?tab=readme-ov-file#known-to-work-co-platforms contains the support /tested details.

2. Which Ceph cluster version is recommended for this setup (e.g. Reef, Quincy, etc.)?

The latest the betters, you can use all supported ceph version from ceph.

3. Is there any preferred or documented method for connecting an external Ceph cluster to Kubernetes (using CephFS or RBD)?
