Building example CPP package (SOX) inside a docker container.

INSTALL instructions here

TODO:

  • Improve the build and copy.
  • Make the core build more abstract - to be able to build any source code gz.
  • Add ref to cpp_examples sc68

Build sox

# build image with build tools (add --no-cache if reqd)
docker build --progress plain -f ./sox/Dockerfile --target production -t sox ./sox

Troubleshooting

If things are breaking here are some helpful pointers.

Scratch container

# build just the builder stage
docker build --progress plain -f ./sox/Dockerfile --target builder -t soxbuild ./sox 

# step into it. 
docker run --rm -it --entrypoint /bin/bash soxbuild   

# list binary dependencies
ldd /scratch/out/bin/sox

# inspect container
dive soxbuild

Manual build

# build the container to prebuild stage
docker build --progress plain -f ./sox/Dockerfile --target prebuild -t soxbuild ./sox 
# enter 
docker run --rm -it --entrypoint /bin/bash soxbuild
