[Feature Request] 3d contour rendering #2590

What feature or change would you like to see made?
Planar contours can be directly rendered in 3d as projected contour lines. This allows for a display of a wireframe image. If the contours are planar with acquisition, then it is also easy to fill in the contours as they change for a fairly light weight conversion to a solid. Either way, the display of such contours would then be much faster than the existing full surface generation.
Why should we prioritize this feature?
The conversion to contour surface is quite slow. Generating contour images would enable much faster display of hte contour lines, and would be sufficient for some use cases.
