Is this your first time submitting a feature request?

  • I have read the expectations for open source contributors
  • I have searched the existing issues, and I could not find an existing issue for this feature
  • I am requesting a straightforward extension of existing dbt-adapter functionality, rather than a Big Idea better suited to a discussion

Describe the feature

As roughly outlined in dbt-labs/dbt-core#8725 (comment), enable an interface in which adapters can specify the following OpenLineage URI for each relation that dbt writes to a data store:

{namespace}/{unique name}

Then dbt-core can write that URI to an artifact such as manifest.json

Describe alternatives you've considered

Due to the current roadmap, this feature is not going to be prioritized and for now, I'm going to close this out to clean up some of our issues.
