Facebook login Issue

Has anyone experiencing an issue with Pidgin login to Facebook? it started today I think, or maybe yesterday.

It looks like Meta has not only added encryption, but also changed the login procedure for the messenger. To my knowledge, there is only one public implementation which is mentioned here: https://github.com/tulir/whatsmeow/blob/f98aea1/client.go#L168 It is possible to use that implementation to make purple-facebook work again. Unfortunately, the purple-facebook plug-in has been without a maintainer for years.

Yes, that is what I linked to. The highlighted comment says:

you must use a separate library for (…) logging in.
The library is currently embedded in mautrix-meta

That means: Some developer needs to read the source-code at https://github.com/mautrix/meta. Understand it and find out which parts are needed for the Facebook login procedure. Then the code has to be isolated and changed in such a way that it does work with libpurple instead of matrix.

Initially, that will be at least three weeks of work. Plus keeping up with the changes will be an immense chore. Since I do not know the matrix framework, that estimate is probably inaccurate.
