"People can put sensitive information in their bio and pronouns!"
Discord profiles are public - As such, there should be no problem with bots reading peoples bios or pronouns. People can put sensitive info in their display name, username, profile banner, and profile picture, yet bios and pronouns is where the line is drawn? I fail to see the consistency.
You know what else people can put in their bio and pronouns? Malicious links or content that would otherwise like to be moderated by discord owners.
From my perspective owning a 170,000+ member discord, bios and pronouns being unable to be moderated is becoming an extremely big issue for me. People are putting links or instructions in their bios and either;
a) Going in the main chat and telling people to "look at their bio", or "click me"
b) Putting themselves at the top of a member list with a special character in their username, coercing people to subconsciously look at their profile
c) Making their name a variation of "Look at bio", "Check profile"
.. and more.
But scraping! ..The scraping doesn't go away no matter what you let bots access; it happens anyway. This is such a weird excuse.
We need to access this information for moderation purposes... for the love of all that is holy.
