Domoticz Android stopped working after last pixel 9 android update.

Description: Domoticz Android stopped working after last pixel 9 android update.

My Domoticz works well in my phone using a browser through wifi. I have been using Domoticz Android for years with my Pixel 9 but now the app after some seconds checking the connection shows an error and I can't use it.

I use HTTP in port 8080. Only local access from local network.

I have the same issue on my Pixel 8, but when ussing VPN the Domoticz app is able to connect

Thanks for the comment but I use Domoticz only in local network (wifi). I think VPN has no sense here.

Same issue after recent update to Android 17 on a Pixel 7a
Using local access and port 443 I get:
"OOPS something went wrong - Error: not connected to any network - CHECK YOUR SETTINGS"

I have the same issue on my Pixel 8, but when ussing VPN the Domoticz app is able to connect

Similarly I can turn on the VPN on my phone and it will work.
This tells me that Android 17 is probably trying to use IPv6 by default, which is turned off on my Domoticz server. My VPN is forced to IPv4 only so it will work.
Does this sound credible?

Yep. I think it is an Android 17 issue too.

Other Android apps using only IPv4 (e.g. Nextcloud and Immich) work just fine. Note that the domoticz app is saying "not connected to any network".
I'm sure that the developers can pin-point the problem quite quickly.
Note also that some early adopters of Android 17 were having problems connecting to Internet sites like Google when connect via WiFi, the recommended work-around was to change DNS to Google (eg 8.8.8.8) and turn on IPv6 on the router. This is not the same problem!

Thanks a lot for your comments. I hope Domoticz or android developers will find a solution. I continue using Domoticz server from my pixel using a browser.

Had the same problem and did a test build locally.

Problem is that on SDK37+ applications accessing the local network need a separate permission android.permission.ACCESS_LOCAL_NETWORK in the manifest.

This permission is then granted by the user with Nearby devices.

The permission also needs to be requested already on the onboarding screen in ConnectionTestFragment, since that's where the first connection attempt happens - before MainActivity is reached.

It did not work through the fastaccess PermissionHelper library here and I had to call ActivityCompat.requestPermissions()/Fragment.requestPermissions() directly.
