The McNamara fallacy is a fallacy describing decision making based solely on quantitative observations (or metrics) and ignoring all other observations, including qualitative data.

  • Measure whatever can be measured
  • Disregard that which cannot be measured
  • Presume that which cannot be measured is not important
  • Presume that which cannot be measured does not exist.
