Use of boost asio instead asio possible?

Hello,
fastDDS is using asio directly 1.31.0 instead boost.asio: because no need of other boost functions?
If a project already uses boost, is it possible to use it instead?
No matter if a process uses different asio versions in different threads (DDS and other stuff)?
