Apologies for not getting to this before @hardy-ethan put in the work to update the screenshots, but it looks like workspaceRoot is deprecated. It doesn't play nicely with multi-root workspaces: https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/reference/variables-reference#_why-isnt-workspaceroot-documented. I'm not sure how many students in EECS 280 actually use multi-root workspaces.

For our Windows guide, the default from the MS extension is fileDirname (which is worse IMO because it will break if they're looking at launch.json when they run it), so we include instructions that tell them to change it to workspaceFolder. Should we include similar instructions for the Mac guide to change it from workspaceRoot to workspaceFolder?

I'm reopening the issue for clarity until we make a decision one way or the other, then we can resolve/re-close.
