How does rim compare to git subtree?

Hi,

I stumbled across git subtree. For me it looks like git subtree and rim target the same use case. I'm curious where is the difference?
Using bare git subtree probably feels like rim from the complexity and effort for a single action but there exist some convenience wrappers (I haven't tried).
