Who we are and what we do
Shaw and Partners is a software development provider for high-profile startups with approximately 25 remote staff. We are also incubating two startups.
Christopher Shaw, the Founder and CEO would be your manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applications
  • Identify and track bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and internal standards

Technical requirements:

  • Frustrated with poorly structured, inefficient, and unmaintainable code
  • Experience with testing frameworks, building backend APIs and user-centric frontends
  • Solid Computer Science fundamentals knowledge (algorithms, data structures, concurrency, etc.)

Languages you need to know:

  • React.js, Node.js and TypeScript

It would be very nice if you had:

  • Strong experience and interest in working with Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with Next, and Responsive Web Design, state management patterns and solutions (e.g. Redux) ES2015+, HTML5 APIs and CSS3
  • Working experience in Continuous Integration/Deployment
  • B.Sc. degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Software Engineering

But before you apply, you need to know that:

  • You will have the opportunity to work very closely with our CEO, relax he doesn't bite
  • We pay you in USD
  • We don't ask you to keep advanced English in your pocket, we have employees from Jordan, Egypt, Argentina, Brazil, the United States, Ukraine and more.
  • We don't have happy hours on Fridays because everyone works remotely, but there are online games if you arrange them with the team.
  • Do you have a doctor's appointment or a driving test in the middle of the week? No problem, you manage your own hours, you just have to keep an eye on when the client sends a message and requests a meeting.
  • It sounds a bit obvious, but for those who have never worked remotely, we don't require a dress code. You just can't show up without a shirt when you're on a video call, okay?
  • If you refer a colleague to work with us and they are hired, after three months of your friend's employment contract, we'll pay you an allowance.
  • We're not Google, but our selection process is faster than theirs, you can trust us

We'll have a crush on you if:

  • You have a sense of ownership, the project is yours, there was a bug at the weekend? Fix it
  • You enjoy working on a project from start to finish, so roll up your sleeves because you'll be working on both the front-end and the back-end too. But don't worry if you're not so keen on working on either, tell us and we'll find a way!
  • You like working as part of a team, “nobody's hand is in anyone else's”
  • You're plugged into the latest news in the tech world and like to give input on new ideas and solutions
  • Is always attentive to customer feedback, after all it's the customer who pays the bills

Maybe Shaw a isn't the right company for you if:

  • You're lazy LOL
  • You need micromanagement. Of course, we know that a junior professional will need a little more attention at first, but once you “learn to ride a bike”, you never forget, right?
  • You want to work in a 100% secure company and are looking for total stability. We are an advanced growth startup
