Any plans to upgrade to wgpu v29?

Hi wgpu-native team!
I noticed that wgpu-native currently depends on wgpu v27, while the upstream wgpu has already reached v29. Are there any plans to upgrade wgpu-native to support the latest wgpu version?
This would be great to get access to the latest features and improvements from wgpu. Thanks for your awesome work!

Yes! Once the PR for updating to the latest headers lands, I'm going to fix up and land the PR from renovate to v29

We discussed it a few meetings ago in the wgpu maintainers meeting (minutes; if you ever want to join it's open to the public, link in our CONTRIBUTING.md), and we resolved to add wgpu-native to the list of issues/PRs that we triage and assign people to. I wasn't sure how you'd feel about it, and I have some concerns about a tightly coupled release schedule, but if there's significant interest, we could do it.

#572 has landed and I've cut 27.0.4.1. I will work on updating to v29 next and then release a 29.0.0.0.

I've pushed the v29.0.0.0 release, binaries should be available in about 20-30 min. Please give it a try and report any issues!

That's great! I'm happy when the C-API lib is maintained to not be too much outdated, and don't care so much how this is done. My main contribution is to help with the CD to make the binaries available; could do that on any repo.

Anyway, thanks for the big pushes to get this on track again! ❤️
