Should all Chat Modes be moved to Agents and Chat Modes be deprecated?

In VS Code it indicates that Chat Modes should be converted to Agents, but both are currently being maintained in this repo.

My question/suggestion is: Should Chat Modes continue to be maintained separately or converted into Agents and remove the support for Chat Modes going forward?

Chat modes are currently supported in both VS Code and VS Code Insiders via the *.chatmode.md file extension but the migration to *.agent.md is not in VS Code stable yet. Because of that, I'm going to hold off the rename/migration of *.chatmode.md to *.agent.md for a few weeks. This will give time for the release to be rolled out and for people to become more familiar with the new terminology.
