this is now the biggest hurdle for the distribution to become much more "friendlier".

Another obvious thing would be the creation of the base-system meta-package - the minimum set of programs without which it is impossible to install or remove new programs.

Also one of the first messages in the system you can often see a suggestion to install gimp using installpackage, but there is no such package.
Instead, it would be possible to offer to install MC - then the distribution kit will no longer be presented with a claim about the absence of a file manager.
