How to consume ORTools in a raw C++ makefile

Hello,

I am able to consume ORTools (built from source) in a CMake project. However, I am having difficulty setting it up in a raw native makefile project.

I currently have libortools.so in /usr/local/lib and the include files are in /usr/local/include/ortools

When compiling a project which has OR Tools header files and source code, I obtain a bunch of the following compile time errors itself (so libortools.so is not yet into the picture):

Could you please direct me toward the right configuration for raw makefile consumption?

I would generate the makefile with cmake and look at the c++ flags.

Most likely you need the c++17 mode.

Thank you. That was indeed the issue. Bumping up to c++17 took care of the compile issue. Next were the linking issues. In addition to -lortools, I had to specify -lprotobuf and the project compiled and linked.

seems to suggest to include the full output of the pkg-config output, but -lprotobuf sufficed in my case.

Hi, I’m having the same issue with a raw Makefile project. I created my own C++17 Makefile, including the library and linking with -lortools and -lprotobuf, but I’m getting many compile-time errors. Could you please share your Makefile? I’d really appreciate it.

Below is Makefile-Debug.mk. I call this from an outside Makefile. There is a separate one for Makefile-Release.mk with appropriate flags. On Windows, I have not been able to work with ORTools in Debug mode, but on Linux, it works fine, being able to step through the code, etc. Hope this helps!
