Assignment of access rights is unstable.

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

2. Click on '....'
3. Scroll down to '....'
4. See error

Also check which access rights changes are actually send to Layman. Seems buggy as well.

When you change the "tab" we need to somehow map the state to different type.
For example Per user -> Everyone:

so if theres at least 2 users (owner + 1) which had permission (whether write or read) it is translated into EVERYONE
otherwise you end up with PRIVATE

in your case it was EVERYONE meaning that when you switch back its correctly interpreted.

So this is up for debate: at least 2 users (owner + 1) which had permission (whether write or read) it is translated into EVERYONE
but esentially it works as expected.

Thanks for the sum up! I remember we had a discussion about this some time ago. It still confuses me from time to time.

Proposed redesign of the access-right dialog box to follow the structure used in QGIS Layman plugin.
I.e. remove the "Everyone" tab and have these master options as the first level for granting access.
The tabs "Per user" and "Per role" will be used as a second level, defining more fine grained access.
If the "per user" access does not include all users or if the "per role" access does not include all roles, then "private"/"restricted" is chosen as a master option.
