I added as a bookmark chrome://browser/content/places/bookmarksSidebar.xhtml
to Bookmarks Bar and when I hit Ctrl+Shift+B and click on this bookmark it opens correctly.
But when I have "Bookmarks Bar" option in my HumbleNewTabPage displaying this exact bookmark and I click on it nothing happens. It seems to be a bug. All other normal addresses like https:// for example google or imgur links are opened correctly.
At the same time when I have in my HumbleNewTabPage "Recently closed" displayed the above address and I click on it, it opens correctly.
I noticed that when I right click on this bookmark in HumbleNewTabPage "Bookmarks Bar" section and choose: "open in new tab", it opens a new tab with this address in Firefox address bar but I need to point mouse to the address bar and hit Enter to open this address.

Unfortunately Firefox doesn't allow extensions to open any built-in browser pages (chrome:// or about: urls).
"Recently closed" only works because there is a special API to reopen closed tabs, but otherwise there is no way to navigate to those pages from an extension.
